Chiang Mai is currently in the middle of a “Green Rush.”
Since the decriminalization of cannabis in Thailand, dispensaries have popped up on every corner. Walk down the Night Bazaar or Loi Kroh Road, and you will see neon leaves flashing, jars sitting in open windows, and street vendors selling bottles of “Magic Oil” next to elephant pants and grilled pork skewers.
For the consumer, this abundance is confusing. And frankly, it is dangerous.
You are putting these substances into your body. You are using them to treat your anxiety, your pain, or your insomnia. If you buy a bottle of “CBD Oil” from a folding table on the street for 200 Baht, do you know what is in it? Is it actually CBD? Is it cooking oil mixed with food coloring? Or worse—is it contaminated with pesticides, heavy metals, or residual solvents from a bathtub extraction process?

To understand why sourcing is critical, you have to understand the cannabis plant itself.
Cannabis (and Hemp) is a Bio-Accumulator. This means the plant acts like a sponge. It absorbs everything from the soil it grows in.

The label says “1000mg CBD.” But does it really?
The Scam: Many cheap oils contain hemp seed oil (which has 0% CBD) but are marketed as CBD oil.
The HazeBuds Check: The COA must verify that the milligram count in the bottle matches the label. If it says 1000mg, the lab report better show 1000mg (or slightly more).

2. The Clear Bottle UV light destroys CBD. Legitimate CBD oil is always sold in Amber (Dark Brown) or Opaque glass bottles to protect it from light. If you see CBD oil in a clear plastic or glass bottle, do not buy it. It is likely degraded.
3. The Price is “Too Good” Extraction is expensive. Lab testing is expensive. If someone is selling 1000mg of CBD for 200 Baht, the math doesn’t work. It costs more than that just to produce the raw materials. If it’s cheap, it’s cheap for a reason.
4. No Seal If the bottle doesn’t have a plastic shrink-wrap seal or a tamper-evident ring on the cap, do not put it in your mouth. You have no idea what has been added to it.
