You are packing your bags. You’ve had an amazing week in Chiang Mai. You’ve explored the temples, hiked the Monk’s Trail, and discovered the life-changing benefits of Diip CBD Oil or Bloom gummies from HazeBuds.

It is a valid fear. For decades, “Drugs + Airports” in Thailand was a terrifying equation. But Thailand has changed. Since the decriminalization of cannabis in 2022, the rules for domestic travel have shifted significantly.
However, there is still a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Before you zip up your suitcase, take 5 minutes to read this guide. It could save you a headache at security—or worse. Here is the definitive guide to flying domestically with CBD and cannabis products in Thailand.
If you remember nothing else from this article, remember this distinction. It is the difference between a smooth trip and a Thai prison cell.
Do not do it. Whatever you bought in Thailand—whether it’s a high-THC flower, a CBD tincture, or even a gummy—must stay in Thailand. Even if you are flying to a country where cannabis is legal (like Canada or parts of the US), taking cannabis across international borders is a federal crime in almost every jurisdiction.
The Risk: You are trafficking narcotics.
The Advice: Consume it before you leave, give it to a friend, or dispose of it safely. Do not take it to the airport for an international flight.
Flying from Chiang Mai (CNX) to Bangkok (BKK), Phuket (HKT), or Krabi (KBV)? You are legally allowed to carry cannabis and CBD products. Because cannabis has been removed from the Category 5 Narcotics list, it is legal to possess and transport within the Kingdom’s borders.
However, the Airports of Thailand (AOT) has specific guidelines on how you should carry it to ensure security processes run smoothly.
While it is not strictly “illegal” to have cannabis in your carry-on (hand luggage), the AOT strongly advises against it.
Why?
The “Suspicion” Factor: Security officers at x-ray machines are looking for weapons and bombs. Organic material (like flowers or dense gummies) can look suspicious on a scanner.
The Delay: If they see a bottle of oil or a bag of herbs, they have to pull your bag aside. They may call the Narcotics Control Board officer to verify that it is legal cannabis and not something else (like Yaba or Opium). This takes time. You could miss your flight.
The Public Nuisance: Strong-smelling cannabis flower in a cabin can annoy other passengers. The captain has the right to remove you if you are causing a disturbance (even an olfactory one).
Our Recommendation: Put it in your Checked Luggage. Pack your Diip CBD Oil or Bloom Gummies in your toiletries bag, wrap it well, and put it in the big suitcase that goes under the plane. It is out of sight, out of mind, and completely legal.
If you must take your Diip CBD Oil in your carry-on (perhaps you need it for flight anxiety), you must follow standard aviation liquid rules.
The 100ml Rule:
Most Diip and Bloom tinctures come in 10ml or 30ml bottles. This is well under the 100ml limit.
Action: Place the bottle in the same clear, resealable plastic bag as your shampoo and toothpaste.
Labeling: Ensure the original label is intact. Security needs to see clearly that it is “CBD Oil” or “Cannabis Oil,” not an unmarked chemical.
Pro-Tip: Screw the lid on tight! Cabin pressure changes can cause oil bottles to leak. We recommend taping the lid or putting the bottle in its own small ziplock bag to save your clothes from oil stains.
Edibles are the easiest form of cannabis to travel with because they look like snacks.

Carry-On: You can bring these in your bag. They are great for calming nerves during turbulence.
The Caution: Do not re-package them into unmarked bags. Keep them in the original Bloom packaging that shows the FDA registration number or the product details. This proves it is a regulated product, not a homemade illicit drug.
While not strictly required for every passenger, having documentation makes you look like a responsible medical user rather than a “stoner.”

2. Keep the Original Packaging Never travel with loose joints or unmarked baggies.

Even though you can transport it, you cannot use it in the airport.
The “Public Smoke” Ban: Smoking cannabis in public areas (including smoking rooms in airports) is illegal under the Public Health Act. It is considered a “Public Nuisance” due to the smell.
Penalty: Up to 3 months in jail or a 25,000 Baht fine.
Advice: Do not smoke a joint outside the terminal before you walk in. You will smell like weed, and security might target you for a “random” search. Consume your Bloom Gummy or Diip Oil before you get to the airport.
You are flying out of Chiang Mai. But where are you landing?
1. Bangkok / Phuket / Samui / Krabi: These are major tourist hubs. The police and airport staff are used to seeing cannabis. You will likely have zero issues.
2. Smaller Provinces / Border Towns: If you are flying to a more conservative province or a border town (near Malaysia or Myanmar), be extra discreet.
Malaysia Border: Be extremely careful. Malaysia has the death penalty for trafficking. Do not bring cannabis anywhere near the border crossing, even on the Thai side. If you are flying to Hat Yai (south), keep your products deep in your checked bag.
